Jamberry From The Heart

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
I technically already celebrated it last week as my boyfriend and I couldn't get together this weekend. However I still wanted to show you the nails I've had on all week.   I chose From The Heart as my valentine's wrap because it has the same pattern is Love Spell which was a wrap I fell in love with only to have it retire right before I made my first purchase.  this wrap is red and silver instead of purple and silver unfortunately but it is still a really cute mixed mani to celebrate the holiday of love.

As you can see this wrap comes in three different designs: red with a white heart, red with a bunch of white hearts and lines, and then a silver inverse. I've had these on for a week now and they are still going strong even thought I had some bubbles on my tips and sides, but I think that was mostly due to rushing to get them on.  I haven't had much free time lately....

Here is what I got for Valentine's Day!

The limited edition Pokemon 20th anniversary Mew plush! I was soooo happy. I also got a chocolate rose but I ate that a while ago haha.

I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day! I'm off to meet my friend and her roommate for burritos and beer.

Jamberry Lace Noir Over Zoya Odetta

I went to the Franklin Institute's Science After Hours Speakeasy event and wanted to do my nails in a fancy and classy way, so naturally I reached for my Lace Noir wraps!  These have a gorgeous black lace pattern that is clear so you can put it over top of any nail polish color that you wish! I chose Zoya's Odetta because its a really nice mauvey purple shade.

I really liked how my nails looked over this color, however I think the next time I use this wrap I will put an even lighter color underneath to bring out the lace pattern even more.  The nails looks really cool up close however from farther away they just looked dark.
Regardless I definitely enjoyed this manicure and am already trying to decide which color to put under this wrap next!

Jamberry Broken Arrow

Well after Eerie Nights beginning to lift after 24 hours and Tannenbaum needing to be completely taken off after only 4 days, the satin finish was really disappointing me again and again.  I had loved the design of Broken Arrow and was really bummed to see that it was also in a satin finish, but I really wanted to wear this manicure for New Years so I gave the satin finish another go.

And I'm glad I did!  I really don't know what makes some wraps work better than others even when they have the same finish but by the time I actually am getting around to posting this, I've had these on for 7 days and they aren't showing any signs of wanting to come off any time soon. I did have some lifting at the base but not very much at all and not near enough to affect the integrity of the wrap.  The design itself is so gorgeous.  It is a matte base with random zig zags in a gradient of colors for yellow to orange to pink. These look so cool when they catch the light. Definitely a fan.
I'm glad these are working so well for me, but I am definitely hesitant about buying satin finish in the future because 1 out of 3 isn't that great.  They need to make more designs in the matte finish!

Jamberry Tannenbaum

I'm so sorry for the disappearance.  Finals and then the holidays really messed up by blog schedule.  However now that Christmas is over I hope to get a few done before the new year.  I already have two unboxing videos made and have some ideas for future posts, so yay!

I hope everyone had a great holiday this year.  For my Christmas manicure I bought Tannenbaum from Jamberry.  They are slightly metallic and have blurred dots in red, gray, and white.  I wanted to get these up before Christmas but it just didn't happen...so here they are a bit late.  These will be retiring after the new year so if you like how they look grab them asap!

Honestly I don't think they l look as great as I had imagined them but they were a nice holiday specific nail for me to have on hand for the season.
I also had issues with these lifting and they are once again the satin finish.  I think I'm going to avoid purchasing any satins in the future just because I don't seem to have a lot of luck with them.

Here is a bonus picture I took of my sweet pup on Christmas morning <3

Kat Von D Vs Formula X Studded X: Mini Lip + Nail Polish Duo Poe

While out shopping with my friend we took a necessary stop at Sephora.  It wasn't quite December yet but I was really hoping they would give me my birthday gift and luckily they did!  While checking out I spotted these super cute Kat Von D Vs Formula X packs of a matching lipstick and nail polish duo.  I looove Kat Vond D so naturally I made an impulse buy and picked one up.  Naturally I snatched the purple one.

On the front the lipstick looks like a gorgeous deep purple.

And this assumption is confirmed on the back of the packaging.  this looks purple right? Right!?

Well I got this box home and opened it up only to find it contained Poe, a shimmery navy shade.  I wanted a deep blue lipstick anyway....but seriously? At least advertise with the correct colors. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed as I was definitely expecting a purple lipstick as shown. But live and let die, right?

Here is what you get for the $15 price tag.  the lipstick is decently sized but I was definitely expecting a larger nail polish considering last year I got two full sized Formula X polishes for $10.

In the bottle the nail polish looks very purple and shimmery and beautiful but as we will see it doesn't apply as such. I have no idea what color this is as it doesn't specify anywhere.

Even just looking inside you can see how blue it appears, not at all like the outside.

And yep its pretty darn navy.  Sometimes in the right light you can see purple shimmer but overall its a very dark blue. In a lack of light it almost looks black. Excuse the little slivers of felt...they got stuck to my nails and I didn't notice...

I won't lie, I like this nail polish I just can't believe Kat Von D would advertise this as purple.....
Its lasted a full 24 hours so far without chipping and that is pretty long for me, as I'm really hard on nail polish.

And here's Poe!  It is definitely not purple.  Not even close.  Its a gorgeous blue but...Why Kat Von D....Why put a picture of purple lips on the box....why....
In this picture sample size Poe is next to full sized Wolfsmouth.  You get a pretty decent amount of product and the tiny size makes it much easier to apply. I wouldn't want to spend the full price on this as its a color I wouldn't wear often so I am happy I now own it in a mini size.

On the lips it is a very stunning deep blue.  Not too deep that it looks black but deep enough that it is wearable.  It has tiny specks of gold shimmer that honestly isn't too terribly noticeable.  My friend did a guest post on my blog reviewing this lipstick and she said it was very patchy and dry.  I haven't experienced this at all with Poe.  It is very possible that they have revamped their formula to be better, as she bought this lipstick a year ago. This goes on creamy, even, and opaque.  I feel its much more moisturizing than Wolfsmouth which actively cracks my lips after wearing it all day.

Overall I'm very happy with the products but a bit confused why it was decided to put blue products into a purple box.

Jamberry Faux Fox

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am so excited to be taking a break from school and just spending some quality time with my family, boyfriend, and dogs.  I havn't been home in over a month so I really really needed this break.  Unfortunately its right back to it come Monday.  I'll be so busy I'll barely have time to think about my birthday coming up...

Anyway for my Thanksgiving manicure I decided to use Faux Fox.  Obviously I needed these as soon as I saw them.  They are crazy cute and just eeeeehhh!!! I love them! Plus they match the new 31 wallet I recently bought.  So much win.

This design is really adorable, and I'm sad that it is only for the season.  If you like this pattern make sure to grab these foxes before January 1st!

That feeling when your nails match your bag.  <3

Jamberry Eerie Nights

Happy All Hallow's Eve everyone!
Well technically it is tomorrow but I will be busy doing my boyfriend's makeup as well as my own for a Halloween party Saturday so I won't be getting a post up that day.  Look forward to our costume looks though! I'm going to be a vampire and him Darth Maul.

Anyway what I do have for you today are my Halloween nails!
I have been waiting to break out these babies for weeks!!

Jamberry currently has some limited edition Halloween themed wraps.  Many of them I would wear year round so I'm bummed they only last until January. Oh well.

Here is Eerie Nights.

Unfortunately the finish makes these difficult to get a good picture of but I really love the art on these wraps.  It is a nice mix of eerie and beautiful.  The graveyard scene is really lovely and quite unique in my opinion.  These are also in a new finish: satin.  So the good thing about these wraps is definitely the art work.  I got quite a few compliments on my nails from my students today.  Like how many other people are going to have a graveyard scene on their nails? Not many, so it really is a creepy and interesting design.  The bad would definitely be the satin finish.  First of all I had a lot of trouble getting these on.  They are so thin they wrinkle so much as soon as heat is applied.  I never have any bubbles on the tips of my nails but 24 hours after applying these I had one on almost every finger.  Also I would not consider these satin.  I thought satin meant a mix of matte and glossy however I feel like these are even more shiny than usual.  The extreme shine unfortunately detracts from the design.  It makes it hard to see the details of the art when most angles the wrap is just a glare.  I think it would have worked out much better to make this a mixed finish wrap with the headstones being matte and the sky being satin.  That way the black would have stood out a lot better from the yellowish blue sky.

Besides my little quip with the finish I think these nails are really awesome and I can't wait to wear my other two Halloween wraps!

Jamberry Flapper

These Jams have a glitter finish and I decided to purchase them because they contain two of my favorite things...black and flowers! Flapper has a gorgeous silver glitter base with a black and white flower pattern over top.

I ended up choosing these Jams to go with my Ren Faire costume because unfortunately we were rained out when I was wearing Berry Sparkler.  I think they still went well with my overall fairy/elf aesthetic.
If you like black, silver, and glitter, these Jams are definitely for you!

Jamberry Berry Sparkler

So I may or may not be able to go to the Ren Faire because of all this rain but if I do....these will be my fairy nails!  I ordered these on a whim with my hostess rewards and actually ended up liking them way more than I thought!

Normally I take all nail pictures in natural light but I added my flash for these because it really brought out the sparkles and made them look more true to life than regular lighting did.
Berry Sparkler is a super cute glitter finished wrap that starts pink and fades to a sparkly silver.  These are just so adorable and I've already received compliments on them.  They feel so magical, playful, and elegant all at the same time!  I'm really glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and got these wraps!

Jamberry Ditsy Floral

Well I had my Jamberry party and got TONS of Jams for only like $45 or something ridiculous like that. A few of the ones I bought were retired at the end of August.  This is one of them.  I figure I might as well still share just in case they ever come back as a TBT special.

I am honestly really glad I grabbed these before they went out because a ton of floral patterns were retired and the new ones don't really do it for me.  I like the Dusty Floral and that's honestly about it. Ditsy floral is super cute and I just love the blue, pink, and green color scheme.  It is a nice spring pattern, and I get a playful yet classy vibe from them.

I really wanted to get these on because the temperature is starting to cool down and soon wearing these bright flowery Jams isn't going to be as fitting. This is probably my last summery manicure before Fall takes over. But I am totally ok with that because I have already ordered my Halloween Jams!

Jamberry Black and White Quad

I needed some nice dark nails for the Epica concert I went to last Tuesday so while browsing through my Jamberry collection these stood out to me from the start.  Black and White Quad is a really simplistic but eye catching design featuring different stripes of black, white, dark, and light grey.

I have to say....don't skip the application step of applying alcohol to your nails.  I skipped this step because I was in a hurry to get ready before the concert and they started wrinkling right away, and the next day it got even worse. Take your time!  If you skip any of the important Jamicure steps you're gonna have a bad time.
Regardless of my little mistake I absolutely love this design and would definitely buy it again.  It is classy and simplistic and just really really nice.

Here are my nails with my entire face and outfit for the concert.  I think they went perfectly with the aesthetic I was trying to achieve.

Jamberry Fall 2015 Catalog

So the new Jamberry catalog is out featuring some new wraps and holiday exclusives!!

I have been looking forward to this release all of August so I thought it would be fun to discuss which of the new wraps are my favorites and why!

Let's start with the new holiday wraps.

Holiday

Double Trouble

Oh. My. God. OMG. These are perfect and they are everything and I need like 3 sheets.  SO ADORABLE.  I screamed when I saw these and can't wait to see what they look like on the nails. I especially love these because I think they look like Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service.

These wraps are a must have for me. Meow.

Eerie Nights

I think the art on these is really really awesome but I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to be getting them yet because unlike Double Trouble they aren't really wearable outside the holiday season.  I think I'm going to wait to see them on nails before I make a decision.  If they look ridiculously amazing when worn then I'll probably pick them up.

 Faux Fox

This is another incredibly adorable wrap.  I am 95% sure I will be getting this one.  I have an order on the way with Sly As a Fox in it because I really wanted fox nails but they only made them in juniors.....well now I can put foxes on my fingernails AND my toenails!!! Yay!!

Tannenbaum

This is the only Christmas themed one I'm considering, because even without a Christmas label to it I think it s a pretty cute design.  I love the silver, grey and red combo and can't wait to see this on some nails.   I think the design is interesting and could be worn for Christmas and beyond, which makes this festive and practical!

So those are all the Holiday wraps (available until January) that I am thinking about picking up at some point this season. Next I'm going to talk about my favorite new additions to the regular catalog!

New Fall 2015 Additions

Broken Arrow

This wrap seriously intrigues me..... If you look at the full sheet it is a grey base with a rainbow of metallic color in a broken zig zag pattern.  This wrap looks like it has the potential to be very beautiful and very unique.

Only downside is that I'm not crazy about the gold and orange accent pieces, but the overall presentation might be awesome enough to overcome this personal qualm.

Moab

I'm not sure if I will like how this will look on nails but for some reason my eyes keep coming back to this wrap.  The gorgeous deep pink mixed with the sky blue is such a lovely combo.  The design and color of this wrap is really neat but I will definitely have to see it modeled on some nails before I make a purchase decision.

Ribbon Dance

The colors of this wrap are right up my alley.  This is definitely a great anytime anywhere casual wrap for me!  Very excited to try this one!

Dusty Rose

I loved this one the moment I saw it!  I was really excited to see what new florals the new catalog would bring and this definitely takes the cake!  I love the soft pink on the grey.  Its bold yet classy, I will definitely be needing this.

Ombre Lotus

This is another wrap that I think looks like it could be really pretty but I'll need to see it on some nails before I make a final purchase decision.  I love the purple fade and the petal design though and I'm really hoping I'll like this one in action!

Renaissance

Not yet sure how I feel about this one but it reminds me of stained glass and could be very beautiful as an accent nail.  I think it will be a bit much for me to do a full manicure of this one but I am definitely intrigued by this design. This wrap is also under the sports section, which doesn't really make sense to me but oh well.  What isn't in the sports section that I was hoping to see was a weight lifting themed wrap! I totally wanna wear dumbbells on my nails while lifting! :P

Anyway, overall I am super excited about this new catalog and how awesome my nails are going to look this year!

Which are your favorites??

UPDATE!!!!

I found Faux Fox and Double Trouble on nails and I am so in love I can't even!

Jamberry Silver Floral

Four months ago when I attempted to apply my first ever Jamberry nail wrap I had a very very abysmal time.  It was wrinkly and horrible and I felt really discouraged.  Little did I know that I had started with a metallic finish wrap, which are the absolute hardest to apply.  Now its been four months and I wanted to reshow you Silver Floral, over the same nail polish as last time so you can see how nice metallics can actually look, haha!

This wrap is so gorgeous especially over dark polishes.  Like last time this is Zoya's Belinda.  The dark makes the silver shine so wonderfully, and it really catches the eye.  I love this wrap and is at the moment my favorite clear one that I've used.

Here is a comparison, my current attempt on the left and my first ever attempt on the right.  Hopefully you can see that my left attempt is barely attached at the base, there are wrinkles all up the side, and a large one at the tip.  This wrap lasted about two days.  However now I have found that the baggy method, where you pull down tightly with a baggy over the nail while you heat, makes applying metallics as easy as any other type of wrap.  It gets out wrinkles that won't come out with your finger or a cuticle pusher and it really helps seal down the edges.  I may make my own application video soon to show you all how I like to apply my wraps.

Jamberry Purple Mini Polka

I know another long gap between posts....There is a reason, I swear!  I went back to campus last week after visiting home and.....forgot my laptop charger.  So I was able to take some pictures but unable to get them on my laptop because of it being dead and everything.  Then I went on a long vacation to Seneca Lake in New York with the family and my friend.  Lots of wine and boats, it was a great time! :)
Anyway here is a nail wrap that is part of the Going Going Gone! which means it is getting retired at the end of August.  This is the only polka dot design that they have that I like so I'm sad to see it go but hopefully it gets replaced by something even better!

I had these on for about 5 days before I got around to taking a picture so there is a bit of wrinkling occurring, which really seems to happen when the humidity is so high and I sweat as soon as I walk outside....sigh.

Anyway I had my Jamberry party and got $250 which means I get the August hostess exclusive and a bunch of discounts! YAY!!!

Look forward to some makeup posts! I bought a few fun things to share with you!

Jamberry Marsala in Bloom

I cannot believe how long its been since I've updated.  Life has been so crazy.....
I finally finished teaching chemistry lab for the summer semester and I think I'm changing from the PhD to Masters program after months of deliberation.
I had a few posts lined up on my camera but when I went to put them on my computer I learned that my SD card and corrupted at some point and I lost everything which definitely has not helped my motivation to make new posts.  I lost a lot of really cute Jamberry pictures and a few makeup reviews, but hopefully I'll be able to redo them at some point soon!

\

Last week I wore my Marsala in Bloom Jamberry wrap! Marsala is such a pretty color and I absolutely love foral designs so I knew I had to have this one. Unfortunately it is among the ones being retired this month to make room for the new wraps in September so if you've had your eye on this, don't hesitate!! I have noticed that when I apply on a particularly hot day the humidity makes my nails wrinkle easier....I cannot wait for fall to get here so I can continue to have flawless and long lasting nail wraps.  I hate this 90+ degree weather. Ugh.

My prop for this picture is my new Thai Basil plant! Yay! It smells so nice and I love being able to just pluck a leaf off to season my dinner.

I am actually hosting a Jamberry party this week so if you've been thinking of trying these out already, why not help me reach my party goals as well? :D
If you want to place an order between now and August 12th and help me out do so from this website: http://www.bwhitman.jamberrynails.net/shop and select my party upon checkout (Kimbre's Krazy Awesome Nails!)
Thanks!

Sorry for the hiatus hopefully I can get back into frequent updating!

Jamberry July Hostess Exclusives 2015

My mom hosted a party and earned so much she got 3 months worth of hostess exclusives!  Because she is the greatest mom ever she gave me half of her July sheet! I love it so much! I'm so sad it will be gone....:(

This wrap is dark blue, coral, mint, and white arranged into a cool alternating rectangle kind of pattern.  Its soft while still being intense and subtle while being eye catching.  I am really loving the flashy pattern mixed with these soft coordinating colors.

Also this is probably my best application yet! I finally have an air conditioner in my apartment so I was able to thoroughly heat and cool my wraps this time! :D

I am liking the August exclusives even more than July though so I may be hosting a party in August.  If anyone is interesting in helping me out and ordering through my party I would be so so so happy! :3

Where to buy: Jamberry Consultant
Price: $15 per sheet.

Jamberry Celeb Status over MAC Bad Fairy

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while and unfortunately it will probably be a few days until I update again.  I have a huge comprehensive exam in a few days and I've been spending the week leading up to it studying non stop and not leaving my apartment.  So therefore...no makeup.  I did do my nails last night though during my study break so I thought I should at least share that with you guys until this exam is behind me!

This week I used my Jamberry wrap in Celeb Status.  This is a clear wrap with three different patterns (hearts, stars, and chevron stripes) meaning you can either put it over another Jamberry wrap or stick it over your favorite nail polish. I opted for the second and put it over MACs Bad Fairy polish. I do wish I had chosen a different color. I think this wrap would have popped more with a lighter shade of polish. Anyway I had a bit of trouble with this run mostly because I have no air conditioning and its been in the 80s so my apartment is hot. Like really hot.  I was doing my nails and I think because they never really got a chance to cool down and because I was rushing they didn't turn out as nicely as usual.  Also the heat caused my nail polish to not quite dry even after waiting for what seemed like forever so whenever I made a wrap mistake when I pulled up on it to fix it some polish sometimes came off with it, leading to even more mistakes......
Moral of the story, don't apply Jamberrys in a hot apartment.
I really need an air conditioner....

Beside that these are super cute and I think next time I'll put them over a light lavender or even a white to really make the patterns pop!

BONUS! I also Jammed out my toes.  this picture was taken after already wearing them for two weeks and they are still going strong.  Jamberry pedicures will more than likely last me a month or two which is pretty awesome.  On my big toe is a Zoya polish in dark green with the clear wrap called Whisper on top.  On my toes is the junior wrap called Frosted.

Jamberry Sheet Music Wraps

The wraps for this week have a special purpose!  My boyfriend's birthday is tomorrow and because he plays piano and loves music I wanted to do my nails special for his day! :)

I knew that these Sheet Music Jamberry wraps would be perfect!

I pulled out my old clarinet for this one!  I played consistently for 8 years but unfortunately stopped when I went to college. Anyway...these nails are definitely adorable. From far away they don't pop like some other designs do but when you get close enough to see the details they are just so pretty and interesting.  While they are not exactly accurate (what is up with those random ledger lines with no notes on them??) they will be perfect for any music lover!

I accidentally misaligned my thumb a bit but otherwise this application went really well.  I had some metallics on last week but didn't post them because I did a really crappy job applying them.  I just can't get them to cooperate.  I guess I'm not on that level yet.....However they still stayed on for a week and could have gone longer but I wanted to put these on in prep for my love's birthday.  If you are new to Jamberry DO NOT ORDER METALLICS. I would hate for someone to get metallics and be unable to make them look nice and write off Jamberry completely.  I have only used the regulars and they apply beautifully. I hope to pick up some glitters soon and give those a try.

I may have had a bit too much fun with these clarinet shots :P
