Lipstick Concept Art

So my dream hobby right now is to learn to make lipsticks and then create some really fun and unique Pokemon themed colors!  Honestly I'm not even sure if the concepts I have below are possible, but I had a heck of a lot of fun designing them.
Balloon
Based on Jigglypuff
Soft pink with a light blue sheen

Fox
Based on Vulpix

LIght brown with an orange sheen

Moonlight
Based on Umbreon

Black with a gold sheen

New Species
Based on Mew

Matte soft pink

Sun
Based on Espeon

Light lavender with a red sheen

Hope you enjoyed my crazy lipstick concepts!

Jigglypuff, Vulpix, Mew, Umbreon, and Espeon are property of Pokemon and Nintendo.  I'm just a silly fan that uses these adorable creatures as inspiration.

Roaring 20s Charity Event Look!

Welp the big 1920s roaring 20s charity swing dance that I co-hosted is over so now I"m going to share my makeup and outfit with you!

I did a sparkly black and grey smokey eye with a dark raspberry lip.  Here is me attempting to make a pouty face in artificial lighting.

And here is the look in natural lighting.  On my eyes I used the Pop Beauty eye shadow trio I got in an Ipsy bag called Smokin Hot.  To line my eyes I used Starlooks kohl eye pencil in Obsidian, another Ipsy bag product.  On my lips is MAC Rebel.  My blush is Mary Kay Bold Berry and I filled in my brows using Mary Kays mineral eye shadow in Espresso.

I made this one black and white for authenticity.

Here is my full outfit! Sorry I don't really have a good spot to take full body pictures.

Here is a close up on some individual pieces.  The dress I got from Target, the headband is from Ulta and then I stuck some feathers in it, and the shoes I got on Ebay from a lady in South Korea who hand makes women's shoes.

Here are my friends and I at the dance! I also did makeup for the girl on the right :)
It was a lot of fun!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars in Strumpet and Hoochie

It seems with lip tars people either love them or hate them.  I read so many reviews when I was looking into buying Hoochie.  Some said they are wonderful and last all day others say they are a pain to apply, bleed, and get everywhere.  Eventually I decided to pick up two sample vials from Retro Wombat's Beauty store.  That way I could have both of the colors I was eyeing for only $10! If I hated them then so what at least I didn't spend $18 a tube.  Long story short I ended up loving them.  For me they apply easily with a lip brush and last a good many hours without drying out my lips too bad.  Overall, Strumpet seems to have better longevity than Hoochie.

OCC Lip Tar Strumpet

Strumpet is a very pretty raspberry color.  You can pack it on for a bold lip or only apply a tiny bit for a more muted berry color.

OCC Lip Tar Hooche

Same for Hoochie it can be applied lightly to make it more wearable or heavy for a more crazy purple look.

Put them together and what have you got?

Magenta!

Oh my god guys.  Look at this. LOOK AT THIS.  When I mixed them together I got better longevity than when I wear them alone.  I put it on at 9:30am then I drank coffee, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, went to class for two hours, ate lunch, went to my internship for 5 hours, and ate dinner.  It looked near perfect from far away.  Up close you can definitely tell it is fading but holy crap.  I've never had a lip product last this long!

Sample Vials
Where to buy: Retro Wombat Beauty Store (they are currently on hiatus)

D:fi D:struct Pliable Molding Creme

I know I've never reviewed a hair product, but there is a first for everything! Now, why did I choose this to be my first hair product review? Well the answer is quite simple...its the only hair product I use. I bought this a month or so ago from my hair dresser to replace a shiny sculpting putty with less hold. So, why do I love this? IT'S MATTE! I hate shine, especially now that my hair is short it makes me look greasy.  This putty offers hold without the shine.  It also smells nice.  It is classified as unisex so the smell isn't floral or girly, its just nice. It also holds my hair in place which of course is what it is meant to do.  My jar has an 8/10 hold level.

This product is a white sticky putty type material.  To use it I stick my finger in and whatever comes out attached I rub between my palms and fluff into my hair until I have a nice even coat of it all over my head. Then I style it as desired.

Here is a pretty boring before and after shot.  On the left my hair is kind of just flopping around wherever it feels like.  Thats no good, I need it to go forward! The picture on the right is my final style.  As you can see my hair is going forward where I want it and laying flat where it should be.  It will stay like this all day but I sometimes add a spritz of hairspray just for good measure.

Oh, and I can also do this with it.

Where to buy: Amazon or local hair salon
Price: $13

April 2014 Ipsy Bag Sneak Peak!

The glam rooms went live today and I finally got to take a look at what is coming from Ipsy this month! I am so excited!!! I'm going to post a picture of what I'm getting and kind of give a little opinion.  Look forward to an unboxing video and some swatches!

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in black velvet (travel size)

I love Urban Decay but I already have two black liners by them. I also think this is the 3rd black liner I've gotten from Ipsy.  I'm excited to try the formula but as for the color....eh.
Price: I've seen 3 travel sized pencils for $19 so I'm gonna say around $6

2.Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes the Shadow  in Champagne

Never heard of this brand so I'm interested in trying it out.  The color is pretty boring, reminds me of Urban Decay's Sin which I do use all the time so maybe this can become a nice dupe.
Price: $13

3. Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion
I love me some microdermabrasion so I'm pretty happy about this.
Price: 60g is $78 so this 7.5g sample is about $9.75

4. Sexy Hair Root Plump Volumizing Spray Mousse
I haven't experimented with many hair products since getting my hair short so I'm anxious to see how this will work with my pixie.
Price: 10.6oz is $18 so our 1.6oz sample is $2.70

5. Starlooks Lucious Longwear Lip Pencil in naked
Ooooh a lip liner! I don't have many of these.  I like the starlooks eye liners that have  come in previous bags so hopefully the lip liner is just as awesome!
Price: $14

Overall I am super happy with this bag and will have a use for everything!

The total value of this bag is about $45. Wow.

Custom Natural and Unnatural Lipstick Palettes

A little while ago I decided that my vanity was becoming way too cluttered by lipsticks that were:
- Too cheap to be worth using
-Dupes of other lipsticks that I liked much more
- Just plain unflattering
So I bought two 99 cent pill boxes from Walmart and got to melting!

First up is the "natural" palette for colors that I could easily wear out in public and no one would bat an eye. from left to right:

-Delux Beauty Vinne: Given to me by my mom, its quite nice but I already have tons of red lipsticks
-Revlon Violet Frenzy: pretty but a bit too sheer and boring for a purple lipstick lover like myself
-Revlon Supermodel: nice formula but the color is just not really me
-Custom: I made this by mixing a BareMinerals Lead the Way that melted during shipment and had to be replaced and the light pink end of Covergirls Pucker.
-Kleancolor Pink Seeker: cheap and dupeable
-Ulta Silver Heather: Another one my mom gave me, just a boring basic pink
Revlon Peach Parfait: oh god the sparkles

And the "unnatural" palette that contains colors that are either socially unacceptable, super bright, or just weird, I'm looking at you Iced Honey.
-Blackheart Beauty Poison Kiss: worst black lipstick ever.  Its not opaque and doesn't last long.

-Kleancolor Purple Machine: cheap, not a fan of the formula.
-CoverGirl Pucker: this is a double sided lipstick, I mixed the colors.  The staying power is great....so great that it stains my lips for two days after :/
-Laura Geller Molten Magenta: I have at least 3 lipsticks in this exact color.  I got it as a gift.  Melting it down seemed to mess with the pigmentation.
-Kleancolor Cast of Spell: crappy formula
Kleancolor Sky Dive: I'm so glad I payed less than $1 for these.
NYX Iced Honey: got this in an ipsy bag. I love NYX but oh god this color is so unflattering on me.  I already don't wear beige nudes but on top of that its...frosty. Euugh.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the swatches of my lesser used lip products.  I would highly reccomend doing this if you hate throwing away makeup and want to make a nice travel palette.  I know I'll be taking the natural palette with me whenever I visit my boyfriend or go camping!

Super Glam Purple Lips Featuring MAC Violetta

I wanted to share with you my most favorite purple lip ever.  I'm a bit obsessed with purple, especially purple lipsticks so unfortunately for my bank account I have accrued quite the collection and my purple lip wishlist just keeps growing.  For expample, Revlon Matte Balm in Shamelss and OCC Lip Tar in Rollergirl....want.

Anyway here it is.  To get this super purple sparkley amazing lip I use MAC Violetta and Urban Decay's Stardust lip gloss in Andromeda.

Here is a swatch of the products separate and then together.  Violetta is on the left and Andromeda is on the right.

And here is a close up of it on my lips because who doesn't want to see close ups of my lips. Basically it makes my mouth look like a mini galaxy.

The products that make it all possible.

Violetta
Where to buy: MAC or Nordstrom
Price: $15

Andromeda
I'm pretty sure this is now discontinued but I think any unnecessarily sparkly gloss will do just fine.

My Average Makeup Morning

WARNING! This post is huge! I decided to document and share my normal every day makeup routine! Enjoy!

Before we even start here is a before and after for initial comparison.  I was wearing a purple and pink themed outfit so I decided to make my eye shadow match.

Here is my no makeup face right after skincare! I kinda wish I would have done my hair before doing this instead of after.

First I apply Skin 79 BB Cream in VIP Gold all over my face.  I use this in place of a primer. It evens out my skin a bit and provides me with extra sunscreen because you can never get enough sunscreen. I buy mine on ebay for about $14.

Then I follow up with Revlon's Whipped Foundation in Ivory.  I apply it with Real Techniques Stippling Brush which I just learned how to properly use...I had no idea you were supposed to pat instead of swirl....

Then I threw on some UD Primer Potion and for this look I followed up with Urban Decay's eye shadow in Woodstock.  I applied this with Real Techniques eye shadow brush.

Then in my crease I applied Mary Kay's Mineral eye shadow in Sweet Plum.  I used Real Techniques crease brush. I apologize for my chipped nail polish.

I finished up my shadow using Shiro Cosmetic's Not Very Effective on the outer corner and lower lash line.  I pressed the loose shadow myself which is why its in a pan. I applied it using a Stila eye shadow brush.

Let's ignore the fact that I look drunk in this picture and focus on the Mary Kay eye shadow in White Lily that I used as a subtle matte highlight.  I apply my highlights with my finger, I'm not sure why.  Probably because I'm too lazy to dirty another brush.

Then I did a thin line of Ulta Gel Liner in Smoke using Real Technique's small liner brush.

After eye shadow I always finish with a powder foundation.  I used Mary Kay's Mineral Foundation in Ivory 1 and applied it with their powder foundation brush. I also applied Mary Kay's Lip Primer during this step which is why my lips suddenly became eerily white.

Then I slapped on some Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara.

Next I applied Revlon's Balm Stain in Honey.  I use this a lot because its basically my only nude lipstick.

And as part of my wear more blush initiative I used Be a Bombshell's all purpose blush stick thing in Girl Crush.

And we are done, yay!

Hooray for my stupid winky face!
I hope you enjoyed my first ever get ready with me picture progression!
