Spring Summoning FOTD

I am oh so very much ready for spring.  I hate the cold and I love swimming and flowers and ugh stupid window needs to end.  Today I dressed as if it were about 20 degrees warmer to make myself feel better.

For this look I used Slowburn and Revolt from the Electric Palette. I dabbed Slowburn all over my eye lid and blended Revolt under my eye for a nice pop of sparkle. I took Skinny Dip by NYX and blended it into my crease.  I then darked my outer corner using Urban Decay's Blackout single shadow. I finished with a wing and voila! Super easy spring eye!
On my lips is NYX soft matte lip cream in San Paulo.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Light it Up

So after referring my mom and my friend to Ipsy I suddenly had enough points to FINALLY get something for free! Since I know I love BareMinerals lipsticks I decided to get Light it Up!

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Light it Up

I did some online research on it before selecting it and on others it seems very pinky coral.  You can image my shock when I put it on and it was basically orange on my skin tone.  I actually didn't like it at first but after wearing it a while it kind of grew on me. I don't usually wear orange but I rather like this color :)

I <3 Ipsy
I can't believe I got a full sized $18 lipstick for free!!!

Where to buy: bareescentuals.com, ulta, sephora
Price: $18

Urban Decay Pressed Pigment in Slowburn from the Electric Palette on my Lips

So normally I avoid orange lipstick because it just looks super strange on me.  However I am seriously digging the way Slowburn looks on my lips.  For whatever reason it is much more flattering than any other orange lip I've tried to wear.  For that I am so happy!! Definitely a win, it even looks cute in my hair.

On my cheeks I tried to use Urban, the purple from the palette.  I honestly really like it, especially with the orange.  I think I'm so pale and cool toned that purple blush turns out looking oddly normal on me.  I'm totally ok with this.

I popped a lip gloss over top to add some shine.  It also helps cover up any powdery texture making slowburn look like an honest to god lipstick :)

My Pitifully Tiny Blush Collection

Blush...something that until a year a go I had never gotten anywhere near my face.  The reason I started wearing makeup is because I inherited some of my mom's rosacea and my face is naturally very red.  I go a day without foundation and I get asked if I'm sick because my nose is red or if I've been crying because my cheeks are red.  Its awesome. No. No it isn't.  So as you can imagine putting more red on my face after working so hard to cover it all up seemed like insanity to me.  Well, after becoming a Mary Kay consultant I got a bunch of free makeup for buying inventory and all that and one of the products I got was a blush.  Well lo and behold it was so subtle and peachy and fresh that I actually like the way it looked on my face.  I still do not wear blush very often but I am trying really hard to remember to try and work it into my makeup routine.  I hope you enjoy the swatches from my minuscule blush collection.

Mary Kay Shy Blush

This blush is the one mentioned above, the very first blush that I felt didn't make me cool like a clown.  It is very soft and sheer.  It has a shimmer to it when swatched but it isn't very noticeable on the cheeks. I would definitely wear this year round.

Price: $12

Mary Kay Blush Bold Berry

This is definitely my all time favorite blush.  It is just so freaking pretty.  While Mary Kay recommends it for darker skin tones I think when applied lightly can look amazing on light skin too. Its a pretty raspberry pink color and I often use it as an eye shadow as well.  Perhaps I should try it on my lips someday!

City Color Be Matte Blush Fresh Melon

This blush I got in an Ipsy bag and I am definitely a fan.  It has a nice matte finish and I can see myself wearing this a lot as the temperature continues to rise.  I don't think I would wear this in winter.

Where to buy: Citycolorbeauty.com
Price: $2.99

Be a Bombshell Girl Crush

I also received this blush in an Ipsy bag.  It is an all in one stick so it can also be used as a lipstick or eye shadow.  I havn't tried it as an eye shadow but it is horrid as a lipstick, at least with my complexion.  Otherwise, it is an okay blush.   You can't tell from the pictures but it is super sparkly and I'm not sure how I feel about that. It is really easy to apply and would be a nice soft versatile pink if not for the sparkle.

Price: $16
Holy crap I had no idea this was a $16 product. I like the City Color blush a lot more and its only $3....

Lorac Blush Soul

This blush was given to me by my mother.  She said the color didn't work for her so she told me to try it out.  At first glance I thought I'd hate it.  It looks brownish orangeish in the pan and even when swatched.  However when it is actually on it looks much more pink and actually makes a really nice natural looking blush.  It blends easily and you need only a bit of product to get a nice natural look. Also my skin looks freaking airbrushed in this picture.  What did I even do o.0

Where to buy: Lorac, Beauty.com
Price: $20

Nars Blush Orgasm

And last but certainly not least the super popular Nars Orgasm.  My mom gave this to me as well because it was too sparkly for her.  I'm pretty sure this was one of my first ever blushes.  Its nice but like my mom said pretty darn sparkly.  After using City Color's matte blush I'm having trouble wearing these sparkly things on my face. Oh well, the color is pretty so I'll keep using it.

Where to buy: Sephora, Nordstrom
Price: $30

I hope you enjoyed my super small blush collection! I don't see myself ever buying blush in the future but if I ever get some from a beauty box or my makeup obsessed mother I'll be sure to swatch them for you!

Revlon Lip Butters in Juicy Papaya, Sorbet, Wild Watermelon, and Red Velvet

I have four of the Revlon lip butters and I love every single one of them!  They go on smooth and surprisingly pigmented.  They have a nice sheen to them and are pleasantly moisturizing.  I'm so exciting to be breaking these out again. I wear them all the time in spring and summer.

Revlon Lip Butter Juicy Papaya

Juicy Papaya is one of the few nude lipsticks I own and it is one I wear a lot.  Only problem is that it is very unforgiving.  The tiniest dry patch or imperfection will be highlighted by this lipstick.  I exfoliated the crap out of my lips and I still couldn't get it to be nice. Overall looks freaking awesome from far away...just not so hot up close.

Revlon Lip Butter Sorbet

Sorbet is a super fun pigmented pink. I usually wear this in the summer with nothing but bb cream and mascara.  Its a great statement lip for when you don't feel like doing makeup but still want to look fabulous.

Revlon Lip Butter Wild Watermelon

Wild Watermelon is probably my favorite just because its such an interesting color.  Its a red...but its also a pink...but its also kind of orange.  Basically its amazing.  It may make a nice intro red lipstick for those who wanna start wearing red but are a little hesitant.

Revlon Lip Butter Red Velvet

This is not only the first lip butter I bought but also one of the first lipsticks I bought!  It is a very wearable deep red but for some reason I don't find myself wearing it as much as the others.

Where to buy: Drugstore, Target, or Ulta
Price: $5.79 to $6.99

Flareon Inspired Eye Makeup

Now for the next installment of my Pokemon Eeveelution eye shadow series, Flareon! This look was a lot more involvd than the last one. This was my first time doing a triple wing and boy was it nerve wracking.  The tiniest little mistake and whoops gotta start over. Luckily no such mistake occurred! :D
Also drawing the little Flareon was super fun and I love how it came out.

To do this look I used Aphrodite from BH Cosmetic's Galaxy Chic palette and Honey  from Urban Decays Deluxe palette. Aphrodite is on the lid, Honey is under the eye and they are both blended together to make an orange smokey look in the crease. I lined my eyes with Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Liner in black and then did the little black wing with Zero from the same Urban Decay Palette. On my lips is Wet n Wild's lipstick in Coral-ine.

Hope you like my flaming Flareon eye!

Mary Kay Limited-Edition Hello, Sunshine! Collection

So I finally got a hold of some of the new Mary Kay 2014 spring products! The following are going to be from the Hello Sunshine Limited Edition collection.

This one is the Springy Eye Duo in Summer Sunset. It is not mine but instead my mothers. I don't wear anything yellow, orange, or brown just because they tend to look weird on me.  I also am not a huge fan of cream eye shadows.  These are very creamy, very natural looking, and a good product for those who like that kind of texture and look.  My mom likes it and looks awesome wearing it, but its just not my cup of tea.

Here it is on my eyes.  I applied it all with my finger.  I'm sorry that I'm not wearing mascara but I was taking this off as soon as I took the picture haha.

Mary Kay Carefree Coral

This is one of the new lipsticks in Carefree Coral.  I love it! The formula is nice, creamy, moisturizing, and the color goes on very opaque.  I was looking for a nice wearable coral and this is perfect. When corals are too orange they look strange on me, this has just the right amount of pink to make it work with my skin's cool undertones. Definitely a win!

I also got the limited edition wristlet for the purpose of housing my Nintendo 3DS and games.  I slip my 3DS in the front (it does fit in the whole way I swear) and then my games in the back zipper pouch.  It is super cute and does what I want it to do, the only con is that....the wrist strap doesn't fit around my hand so I can't actually use it as a wristlet. What.
Anyway, expect to see even more new Mary Kay stuff over the next few days!
