March Makeup Obsession

So at the end of every month I'd like to share a certain look or products that I have been particularly obsessed with. This month I have been seriously crushing on purple and red eye shadow combinations! The products above are the three shadows that I have been using quite frequently in various combinations and places to create some seriously awesome looks. Below I'm going to share with you a fairly basic look using these three shadows!

To get this look I put NYX loose pigent on the lid, BH Cosmetics Aphrodite in the crease, and then put Not Very Effective on the outer corner and as a liner.

On my lips I'm wearing BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Speak your Mind
Now, I wanna talk a little bit about these three shadows.

NYX Loose Pearl Eye Shadow in Purple: This is a loose pigment that has a very pretty light purple hue.  It goes on very easy and I experience little to no fall out from it. It is such a pretty color and has been on of my go to purples for a while.
Where to buy: Nyxcosmetics.com, ulta, drugstores
Price: $3.00

BH Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Aphrodite: This shadow is from the Galaxy Chic palette which I want so bad! I got the single eye shadow from an ipsy bag and I absolutely love it.  It goes on smooth and pigmented and when used wet as an eyeliner has incredible color pay off.
Where to buy: Bhcosmetics.com
Price: $22.95 but is usually on sale for less

Shiro Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Not Very Effective: This is such an incredible pretty deep purple with some red sparkle.  I'm almost out of my sample so I recently placed an order for the full size because I can't live without it.  Plus its Pokemon themed so win win.
Where to buy: Shirocosmetics.com
Price: Sample $1, Mini $3.50, Full $5

Mary Kay Intense Purple Eye

Today I'm going to share with you an intense purple eye I did using my 3 purple Mary Kay eye shadows!

So to do this look I used Shimmering Lilac, Iris, and Sweet Plum

Swatched left to right is Sweet Plum (slight shimmer), Iris (matte), and Shimmering Lilac (super shimmer). There is a line of Lorac behind the scenes primer underneath to show the color difference between bare skin and over primer.

And here it is! I love these three colors together.  This was actually my first time using Shimmer Lilac. I like it however if you want color payoff you have to use it wet.  Use it dry only if you want a very subtle purple shimmer.  To create this look I put shimmering lilac on the lid, iris in the crease, and sweet plum at the outer  corner.

Price: $7.50

Tristana and Lulu

I'm pretty proud of this one, I spent a lot of time getting things just how I wanted them.  This is Tristana and Lulu from League of Legends, my two favorite yordles!

Eye of the Day Pink and Purple Gradient

Tried gradient eye liner again.  I rather like this look but not the primer I used it with.
I realized this morning how crappy Stila's Taffy eye primer is....It is quite visible on the skin and hard to blend in.  I also had transfer of my eye shadow after only like 5 minutes! What! Yeah, not cool.

I always get shadow all over the back of my lashes :(
Anyway what I used:
Rimmel Scandal Eyes shadow stick in white
BH Cosmetics warm matte pink
BH Cosmetics cool matte purple
Ulta Gel Liner in Strut

Zoya Pixiedust Nail Polish in Lux

This nail polish makes my nails look like disco balls. Seriously.

This pixiedust stuff is so freaking pretty its ridiculous.  However, if Lux is anything like Stevie its gonna be a pain in the butt to remove.  Oh well, such is the price one must pay for fabulous sparkly nails.

In the name of Demacia, I will punish you!
Illuminate the enemy!
Lighting the way!

...Ok I'm done.

Where to buy: Zoya.com
Price: $10

Cute Pokemon Doodles

Here are some pokemon doodles, the Eevee and Pikachu are pretty old but the Raichu I did fairly recently.

You should recognize this one from the bottom of this blog, the prize at the end of Celadon Alley :P

Pikaball!

I was displeased by the lack of art combining my two favorite things: Pokemon and makeup, so I created some.

Mary Kay Concealer in Ivory 2

The number one reason this has become my favorite concealer is simply because its the first one I've used that isn't yellow.  I spent years going into drug stores and buying the lightest concealer possible and being disappointed when they were always too yellow.  You can image my delight when I finally found one made for cool undertones.  The following is Mary Kay's concealer in Ivory 2.  If you have a more yellow undertone then I would suggest trying out Ivory 1. This concealer is available in 7 shades.

Here it is dotted on my hand and then also blended in a bit.

This is a before picture of my nasty red healing pimple.

And this is my not near as nasty after picture.  This is after only one application with my finger, it can be built up to offer even more coverage. A little goes a LONG way.  I usually use this after my BB cream and before my mineral powder.

League of Legends Miss Fortune Character Makeup

I also did Miss Fortune!  I love her intense and sexy grey eye shadow so I had to give it a go.  She is one of my favorite AD carries to play and doing her makeup look was tons of fun too!

Sorry for the stupid face I'm making but I was having a hard time getting a picture I liked of the eye shadow.  Anyway I used Mary Kay's Polished Stone on the lid and Mary Kay's Black Pearl in the crease.  I'm pretty sure the lips are Revlon's Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya

The Tidecaller

I was bored and wanted to practice a different shading technique so I drew Nami from League of Legends.  She is one of my favorite supports :)

Zoya Nail Polish Design using Demi and Stevie

This is a really cute and simple nail look I did for Valentine's Day. I ended up not being able to see my boyfriend because of snow but at least my nails looked freaking sweet.  I got tons of compliments on this look!  All I did was paint my nails the base color and then do a thick stripe of the secondary color across the middle.  I do have to say that the Pixiedust Stevie polish, when paired with Demi, looks very pink.  When Stevie is worn alone it looks much more lavender.  I wore it by itself soon after this and was shocked because it basically looked like a different nail polish!

Where to Buy: Zoya.com
Price: Demi $9, Stevie $10

Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara

Before I started using this mascara I was addicted to Benefit's They're Real.  The reason I sought a new mascara was because after 3 months the mascara would get all over the bottom of my eye after only a few hours. I was getting so frustrated and after talking to my mom who bought the same mascara around the same time I found out she was having the exact same problem.  We now both use Mary Kay's Ultimate Mascara because to me it does the same thing as They're Real did for a much better price tag.  It gives both length and volume.  For anyone wondering the difference between the Ultimate Mascara and the Lash Love mascara is the volume.  Ultimate is all about dramatic awesome big lashes while Lash Love is for those who like a more natural look.

The brush is a fairly basic mascara brush. I have it in black.

On the left I have one coat of Ultimate Mascara applied and on the right are my bare lashes.  It can be built up to be even more dramatic.  I tried so hard to get a picture with my eyes closed but my  camera refused to cooperate, sorry! Anyway, with this mascara I like to slowly start from my bottom lashes and wiggle up until I have every lash coated and then I flick it on the end of my lashes to add extra length.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Kiss and Tell Set plus Lead the Way

It finally came! Every thing has been pretty crappy lately so getting this in the mail made life a little better.  I actually bought a Marvelous Moxie lipstick last summer and hated it but after receiving Get Ready in my March Ipsy bag I decided to give this lipstick line another chance.  I'm glad I did!

Here is the packaging.  I also got a mini Lash Domination for free!

Here are all the colors that come in the $14 set:  Be Bold, Go All Out, Get Ready, Break Away, and Speak your Mind.

Here they are uncapped....so pretty.

BareMinerals Be Bold

Be Bold with this very deep red.  While the color is nice it unfortunately suffers from the same problem that made me hate these lipsticks a year ago.  The formula just does not work with dark colors.  It is so creamy that they are very difficult to apply and slide around way too much on the lips.  I prefer my dark colors to have a stiffer consistency so that I don't have to worry about them bleeding everywhere and fading unevenly.

BareMinerals Go All Out

Go All Out with this AMAZING color.  I'm all about a good hot pink and the formula makes this feel so nice on my lips, I just love it.  Not to mention I think it works well with my skin tone.  I will definitely be wearing this a lot.

BareMinerals Get Ready

Get Ready because this is the color that convinced me to give BareMinerals another shot!  I got this in my March ipsy bag and fell in love with how the formula I hated on the dark lipstick worked so amazingly with a lighter color. This is a pretty rosey pink color.  I'd call it a nude but my mom told me its more of a statement lipstick.  I guess it depends on what you are used to wearing haha.

BareMinerals Break Away

Break Away from boring lipstick colors!...oh wait, never mind.  This is definitely my least favorite of the bunch.  Not because there is anything inherently wrong with it, I'm just not a fan of the color.  Its like a light rosey brown. I guess I'll find a time and place to wear it but overall, meh.

BareMinerals Speak your Mind

Speak your Mind about how freaking awesome this color is!  Part of the reason I bought this set was to hopefully find a nude I like.  I own like...3 nude colors? Yeah its pretty bad.  I'm so so so so happy about this color.  When I first put it on I was like eew so light and gross but the more I looked at myself the more it grew on me.  I'm used to wearing super bright or vampy colors, I really need to get used to nudes and hopefully this lipstick will help me.

BareMinerals Lead the Way

Lead the Way to a color that has caused me way too much grief. This lipstick did not  come with the set but is instead a full size that I bought last summer.  When it arrived it was all melted and would not solidify no matter what I did.  I was sent a replacement and it had a similar problem but luckily not as bad so it was usable. DO NOT ORDER THIS LIPSTICK UNLESS ITS WINTER. Anyway the creamy formula makes it sooo hard to apply but its a pretty color  so I've been dealing with it.

Here is a size comparison between a full size Moxie and the mini size.

Here are all my BareMinerals lipsticks swatched side by side.  How cute.

Oh yes and the free mini mascara that came with my order how could I forget?  The brush is terrifying! It's all twisty and thick.  However I was pleasantly surprised by the mascara, I really liked it.  It didn't clump, it went on easily, and really did a good job with length and volume. I'll definitely be using this every day until its gone and I may even buy the full size.

Where to buy: BareEssentuals.com, Ulta, Nordstrom, Sephora
Price: Kiss and Tell $14, Lead the Way $18, Lash Domination $18

I hope you enjoyed my BareMinerals haul as much as I did! :)

Espeon Inspired Eye Makeup

Pokemon inspired eye makeup! YEAH! I'm really hoping to make this a series and do a wearable eye shadow look for each of the eevee evolutions.

Espeon Eye Makeup

First up is Espeon because it is my favorite eeveelution! Every single Pokemon game I struggle not to put an Espeon on my team because I just love it so darn much.  I'm also going to try and draw a cute eeveelution for each look I do.

Here is how I created this look:
Prime with UDPP
Pat NYX Pearl Pigment in Purple on lid
Blend BH Cosmetics BHCM18 (navy) into the crease and apply darker towards the outer corner
Line eyes with BH Cosmetics eye shadow in Aphrodite from the Galaxy Chic palette
Finish with mascara!
On my lips I'm wearing Revlon Balm Stain in Darling

Because this post is Espeon themed here is an Espeon necklace I made out of shrinky dinks. I made my boyfriend an Umbreon one.  When you put their tails together it makes a heart.  Oh god I'm cheesy.

And here is my Espeon plushie....I bought my boyfriend a matching Umbreon plush for his birthday.   What is wrong with me?

Anyway, when I told him I was doing this he demanded I do Umbreon so look forward to an Umbreon inspired look soon!

I hope you enjoyed this Espeon look! I love it so much I'll definitely do it again.  I absolutely adore the purple/red combo.

Magic the Gathering Cupcakes

For my boyfriend's birthday I made him these super cute Magic the Gathering cupcakes. I don't really play but he is super into it and he loooooved these cupcakes.  The look on his face was so worth the time it took to draw those tiny little chocolate symbols.

I made these using a boxed cake mix and a premade whipped icing. I know I'm lazy but I had enough to do with the icing and chocolate bits. Anyway I made around 24 cupcakes...so much trial and error on the icing oh my god.  It was either too light, too dark, or too weird.  Let me tell you making black icing was a pain in the butt! I used cocoa powder plus a mixture of all of my food colorings to get it dark enough.  The blue, red, and green also contain a little bit of cocoa powder because the base food coloring shade was just too light.

To do the chocolate pieces I printed out the symbols, put some wax paper over it, melted some chocolate, made a makeshift icing dispenser out of wax paper, a hair tie, and tape, and then drew these. It was a huge struggle.  Towards the end the chocolate was starting to solidify, I made a huge mess.

But it was worth it because he was soooooo happy when he saw them. :)
He'd kill me if he knew I posted this :3

Click my rat for the youtube video that taught me how to do this!

Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation in Ivory 1

I've been a Bare Minerals girl all my life but once I hit college my mom stopped buying my foundation and I just could not keep affording it. Therefore I decided to switch to Mary Kay's mineral foundation.  While I do not believe that it adds as much coverage as Bareminerals does I still like it for what I use it for.  I do not just wear powder, instead I usually do BB cream and then powder or if I want extra coverage I slip a liquid foundation in there.  I primary use it to add a bit of extra coverage, even out my skin tone, and provide a matte finish.  If you are looking for a mineral foundation with heavy coverage this is not for you, but if you use it as a finishing touch and want an affordable alternative to Bareminerals this might be your solution. For anyone interested I used to use Baremineral's Matte Mineral Foundation in Fair.

I have it in Ivory 1. There is a lighter shade available in Ivory .5 and there are a total of 12 shades to choose from.

It has a sealable sifter top so that the powder doesn't get everywhere while traveling.

I dispense the powder into the lid and then apply it with a brush from there.

Here is my cheek with no powder applied.

And here is my cheek with powder.  As you can see it reduces my reddness as well as evens out and softens my skin.

All over matte amazingness.  On my lips I'm wearing a Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya.
